How does the DARWIN Activation process work?

Upon purchasing DARWIN Home Wellness Intelligence, you will receive an email from a DELOS representative find a date & time to schedule your DARWIN Activation.

The DARWIN Activation process will take approximately one to two hours. The exact time frame will depend on the number of devices that need to be activated in the home.

Is there any maintenance required on the system?

Air Purification Systems, Air Quality Sensor, and Water Filtration Systems have components that require replacement over time. If you decide that you don’t want to replace the filters, the systems can be deactivated. However, we recommend maintaining air purification and water filtration systems to help optimize the benefits of the system. To purchase DARWIN Air and Water Filters, please visit shop.delos.com

App Functionality

How do I activate wellness experiences in a specific room?

From the DARWIN App home screen on your mobile phone or tablet, locate the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the screen (left-hand side for tablet) and follow the instructions below: 

  1. Tap “Experiences”.
  2. Under the “Activities” tab, select your desired experience.
  3. Tap the checkbox for rooms you desire to activate the selected experience in.
  4. Tap “Activate”.
  5. Once activated, you will notice the Room Name, or the number of rooms if multiple, appear under the selected experience in the “Activities” tab.

Note: If your setup contains the Lutron Pico Remote the experiences "Circadian, Energize, Relax, and Off" can be activated by selecting the respective buttons from top to bottom on the Pico Remote.

 

How do I set the Sleep or Wake Schedule?

From the DARWIN App home screen on your mobile phone or tablet, locate the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the screen (left-hand side for tablet) and follow the instructions below:

  1. Tap on “Experiences”.
  2. Touch “Schedules” near the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Scroll to find the desired bedroom. Note that only bedrooms will appear for Sleep and Wake Schedules.
  4. Tap “Add” for the room you wish to schedule.
  5. Tap “Set Sleep” or “Set Wake.”
  6. Tap the time to set a Sleep or Wake Reminder time.
  7. Tap the days you wish to use this reminder time. A blue check signifies that a day has been selected.
  8. Tap “Save” to set your Sleep or Wake Schedule.
  9. If audio is selected, “Track” appears. Tap “Track” to select the desired sound to wake up to. To hear a preview prior to selection, tap the play button next to a track. Select your desired track and click “Apply” when finished.

To edit existing schedules, locate your desired reminder on the “Schedules” and tap “Edit”.

How do I change the password of an existing user or reset my password if I forgot it?

To change the password for an existing user and manage accounts, you can follow the steps below:

If you remember your existing password and are logged in to the App:

  1. From the DARWIN Mobile App home screen, locate and tap the "Settings" icon at the top left corner of the screen. On a tablet, locate the "Settings" tab by clicking your family name in the top left corner and finding "Settings" at the top of the screen.
  2. Tap “Profile Settings”.
  3. Tap “Change Password”.
  4. Enter the old password and a new password.

If you can’t remember your login credentials, follow the steps below: 

  1. From the DARWIN Mobile App login screen, locate the password reset link at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap “Forgot your Password?”
  3. Enter your user ID and recovery email to receive instructions on resetting your password. 

How do I favorite a device?

To favorite any experience, room, or function, just tap the blue heart next to it.  You can access all favorited items on the “Favorites” tab located on the home screen on the mobile app, or under "Elements" on the tablet. Favorites allow for quick access to your most-used experiences. 

Troubleshooting

Why isn’t my DARWIN App connecting to the DARWIN Hub? 

If the DARWIN App is not connecting to the DARWIN Hub, try the following steps for reconnection:

  1. Confirm that the DARWIN Hub is powered on and connected to the internet via an Ethernet connection.
  2. Confirm that your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same network as your DARWIN Hub.
  3. Close and reopen the App.
  4. If the App is still unresponsive, locate your DARWIN Hub and turn it off using the power supply, then close the App on the selected device. Next, turn the DARWIN Hub back on. Wait 2 minutes before reloading the DARWIN App. You may need to re-enter your username and password.
  5. If the App does not load, press the logout button, re-enter your credentials and try again.

How to open/close blinds in a specific room?

From the DARWIN App home screen on your mobile phone or tablet, locate the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the screen (left-hand side for tablet) and follow the instructions below:

  1. Tap “Elements”.
  2. Tap “Rooms” near the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap the desired room to view its Elements.
  4. Locate the blinds Element for the desired room. Control the position of the blinds using the designated slider. Slide to the right to lower the blinds, or to the left to raise the blinds.
  5. Tap “Open” to raise the blinds completely.
  6. Tap “Close” to close the blinds completely.
  7. Tap “Stop” to stop the blinds while they are opening or closing. Blinds will stop at the nearest rest point. The blinds rest at five equidistant positions, including completely open, 75% open, 50% open, 25% open and completely closed.

Why aren’t my lights working when I click on them in the DARWIN App? 

For LIFX lights: 

  1. If you have not already, download the LIFX app from the Google Play Store of Apple Appstore. 
  2. Connect the lights to the app. Instructions for this can be found here
  3. Try to turn the lights on and off through the app. 
  4. If this does not work, ensure that your lights, your App, and the DARWIN Hub are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  5. If lights do not respond, turn the lights on and off using the switch. This will reset the wifi on the lights. 
  6. If this does not work, turn the lights on and off five times, with a one-second interval in between. 
  7. After the fifth time, the lights should start to blink, which indicates that they have been factory reset. 
  8. Go to the LIFX app, and re-connect the light as if you’re connecting a new light. 

For Tuya lights: 

  1. If you have not already, download the Tuya app from the Google Play Store of Apple App store. 
  2. If you have not already, connect the lights to the app. Instructions for this can be found here. Make sure lights are connected to the network. 
  3. Try and turn the lights on and off through the app. 
  4. If lights do not respond, turn the lights on and off using the switch. This will reset the wifi on the lights.

Why are my lights not changing from the Pico Remote?  

  1. Ensure the pico remote is receiving power
  2. Find the Lutron Bridge and confirm that power and ethernet are both connected
  3. Pull up the Lutron App and ensure you see the Pico remote still listed there. If you see the following, power and or internet may not be received by the Lutron setup

Why are Devices greyed out on my DARWIN App?  

Devices appear grayed out on the DARWIN App because they have lost connection. This is a result of a power loss to a specific unit, to the device, or to the associated network hub linking the device onto the DARWIN Network. First, check the Ethernet connection to make sure your Hub is connected. If connected and your devices are still unresponsive on the App, follow the instructions below.

Speaker

  1. Confirm that the speakers/amp have power.
  2. Confirm that speakers/amp are on the same network as the DARWIN Hub by reviewing settings in the SONOS app.
  3. Refresh the UI screen by navigating to another screen and returning.
  4. Through the Sonos app, confirm the ability to play sound by playing your file of choice through the speakers.

If the speaker is unresponsive, please contact Sonos support or visit the Sonos website for further assistance.

Blinds 

  1. Check for power to the light by physically viewing the light switch. For DARWIN to be able to communicate with the lights they will need to be powered on (i.e. switch in ON position).
  2. Confirm light is powered by turning off, then on, ensuring to leave light in ON position.
  3. If lights turn on, refresh the UI screen by navigating to another screen and returning. Lights should now be available.

Lights 

  1. Check the power to the light by using the light switch. For DARWIN to be able to communicate with the lights they will need to be powered on (i.e. switch in ON position).
  2. Confirm light is powered by turning off, then on, ensuring to leave the light in on position.
  3. If lights turn on, refresh the UI screen. Do this by navigating to another screen and returning.
  4. Lights should now be available for control.
  5. If lights don’t turn on, there may be an issue with the power on this circuit and an electrician may be required to rectify.

What do I do if my DARWIN App screen is frozen? 

If the DARWIN App is frozen and cannot be used, follow the steps below: 

  1. Force quit the app and reopen it on your device.
  2. If the problem persists, make sure the Wi-Fi is on, and the App is connected to the same network as DARWIN.

Do the lights automatically come on in the morning?

The lights will come on automatically as part of the Wake experience when set ahead of time. The user has the ability to set the wake time on the tablet or mobile app to match their routine. We recommend using the Wake Schedule function if you are looking for a rejuvenating wake experience.
